Meet Liberty Roast: A Full-Bodied Uganda Bugisu Coffee

Liberty Roast is made with 100% Arabica, single-origin Uganda Bugisu coffee beans grown on the fertile volcanic slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. It is a smooth, full-bodied coffee with the depth and comfort of a dark roast, balanced by a fruit-forward character.

From the slopes of Mount Elgon

The beans for Liberty Roast come from the Bugisu region near Sipi Falls on Mount Elgon. Coffee farms here sit between 1,200 and 2,200 meters above sea level, where the high elevation and volcanic soil help shape a distinctive cup.

What to expect in the cup

Liberty Roast opens with notes of dark chocolate and brown sugar, followed by blackberry and a mild earthy or fruit-forward finish. The result is smooth and full-bodied with low acidity, making it an easy coffee to enjoy from the first sip through the last.

How to brew Liberty Roast

Liberty Roast works beautifully across a range of brewing methods, including French press, pour-over, drip coffee, and cold brew.

  • Grind: Grind the beans just before brewing for the freshest flavor.
  • Ratio: Use about 1.5 tablespoons of coffee per 8 ounces of water.
  • Water temperature: Heat your water to 195–205°F.

For a rich, full-bodied cup, start with a French press or drip brewer. Pour-over brings more attention to the blackberry and fruit-forward notes, while cold brew highlights the roast’s smooth, low-acidity character.

However you brew it, Liberty Roast is a grounded, expressive cup that brings the character of Uganda Bugisu coffee to your everyday ritual.
